Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- gets new visual, to have an IMAX screening

The next Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- The film will be shown in IMAX theaters across Japan, and it has received a new visual to commemorate the announcement. The animated film will premiere on September 10, 2022. You can check out the ad below:

The movie prequel, Sword Art Online: Progressive -Aria of a Starless Night- also premiered in IMAX theaters on October 30, 2021. It was also the first film to use the 12-channel IMAX sound system in Japanese theater history.

Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- will also have an early screening on August 24, 2022 in Japan. A program will be held after the screening, which will be attended by Kirito’s Japanese voice actor Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Eir Aoi, the lead singer of the anime’s theme song titled “Shinzō“. The film will adapt the 4th volume of Reki Kawahara Sword Art Online: Progressive light novel series, centered on the events of the 5th floor of Aincrad. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu reprise their roles as Kirito and Asuna. Mito (CV: Inori Minase), an anime original character who was introduced in the first progressive film, and Argo (CV: Shiorizi Izawa), who first appeared in Episode 3 of the original Sword Art Online series, will have huge roles in the film.

Ayako Kono leads the Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- at the A-1 Photos studio. It’s the same studio director who worked on the Sword Art Online: Progressive -Aria of a Starless Night- film.

ASCII Media Works released Reki Kawahara Sword Art Online: Progressive series of light novels with illustrations by abec since 2012, and it currently has 8 volumes in circulation. Yen Press is serializing the light novel series in English and describes the plot of the 4th volume as follows:

It’s been barely two months since they were trapped in the game of death that is Sword Art Online, and Kirito and Asuna continue their struggle at the forefront of progress in the game. The Fifth Floor of Aincrad is a labyrinthine ruin, and the two dare to take pleasure in plundering it for the treasure it contains. Back on the fourth floor, it’s time to do some quests on behalf of the elf lord Yofilis – but here begins Asuna’s displeasure, because in doing so they’ll have to face her least favorite monster ever…
