Having first announced the release of ‘Forget me’ Via a TikTok live stream on the closing night of its sold-out two-night stand at London’s O2 Arena, anticipation for the singles reveal reached fever pitch after its debut play last week. The Scottish singer-songwriter’s first musical release in three years, the track amassed over 2 million streams in the first 24 hours!

About the song, Capaldi says: “‘Forget me’ is a song that is so close to my heart and I really feel like it’s my best song to date. It’s about a breakup I went through where after a year, the only real contact I had with my ex was seeing his “after me” life unfold on his Instagram. I was at a point where I felt pretty miserable and she looked like she was moving on and having a good time, thriving, and I hated that. It felt unfair to me that she seemed happy while I was in pain, and I was worried that she had completely forgotten about me, so I wrote a song about it.

“You hear a sad song and you expect a sad video. There’s catharsis in that. But going the other way felt more in tune with the Lewis who walked on stage at Glastonbury in full gear. by Noel Gallagher Director Louis Bose explains the singles accompanying the music video. “The performance is classic Capaldi: ‘Yeah, no need, I’m just singing this song with a cocktail in my hand. I’m fine, I don’t think about my ex, here at Club Tropicana’.”

‘Forget me’ is available for download/streaming now.
