Big Time Rush scrutinized online on a new song

A band song Big time Rush is under fire ahead of its official release.

Critics say the title of the song, “paralyzed“, and its lyrics are ableist. To put it lyrically, the tune is about boys too dumbfounded to speak after seeing a girl.

The trending conversation on Twitter also drew attention to Lizzo and Beyoncerecent lyrical changes due to ableist accusations; with many users wondering if the public’s treatment of the Big Time Rush situation has been any different.

Some online observers called out the band’s song for its ignorance, but not before it was already trending due to the excitement of fans – around the world – about its potential release.

“Thank you Mexico!!! Let’s keep it up,” the group wrote as “PARALYZED” climbed the Twitter trends.

Twitter user @chr0nicallycute lambasted the group online for not paying attention to the news.

“Your song is ableist, take note of others in the industry (beyoncé, lizzo) who have recognized and changed ableist language in their music – if that’s not doable (bc the whole song is ableist lol) then maybe be write better songs idk.”

Another person, @GeorgeRudkin_also pushed back on Big Time Rush’s original tweet that was meant to get fans buzzing about the band’s new release.

“In fact, people with disabilities are tired of being used symbolically [sic] and that we are talking about using ableist language. Please stop.”

The song was before leaked on SoundCloudso fans already know the lyrics and total concept of the song.

The group originally shared the tweet with their more than three million followers yesterday morning, but the members have yet to respond to the new criticism.

Now, some Twitter users have wondered why the controversial song didn’t get as much attention as Lizzo’s or Beyoncé’s recent lyric scandal.

An user, @chronicallybeeecondemned the lack of public criticism.

“the difference in how people treated beyoncé and lizzo compared to how people treat heavy weather right now.”

Many, like Ola Ojewumiclaimed that the “white disabled influencers” who called out Beyoncé and Lizzo with such intensity are now silent when it comes to the boy band.

Ojewumi, with others, before highlighted the problem racism in the disability community.

Big Time Rush has yet to officially release the song, although it was leaked a long time ago. At this time, it’s unclear if critics will affect their plans for the music track.
